Nike Miami Dichroic Wall Installation
The brief was to create a branded storytelling installation that would reflect both the geographical context of the store and Nike’s DNA. The installation was to be located on a large formed concrete wall, approximately three stories high and situated under high-level skylights.
Through my research, I developed a concept that reflected the colourful culture of Miami and utilised the abundant Florida sun. The installation was created using thousands of small dichroic fins, individually installed on the concrete wall. The dichroic fins were arranged in a chevron pattern, which is a well-known Nike pattern. During daylight hours, the wall is washed in colours from the translucent coloured fins, with the colours changing throughout the day as the sun moves across the wall.
